Stanley Cup riots -- Vancouver spa offers rioters incentive to turn themselves in - ESPN:

This is a unique way to fight crime, well I guess your not really "fighting" crime, more like your massaging the evil out of the body, mind and soul, haha. Probably one of the strangest proposals I have ever heard and the advertising/marketing ploy has been met with some negative reactions from people like Charles Gauthier of the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association. The promotion is being run by Eccotique Spa which is in the Vancouver area but at press time no one has taken them up on their offer in exchange for confessing.

Personally, I think this is stupid but when people hear things like there is no bad press, just good and great things like this come to mind. How about you try rewarding the mature citizens who didn't destroy over a million dollars in property throughout downtown. Run a sale and match whatever they donate to help maintain all of the damage. Take a day off and have all your employees volunteer with cleanup and maintenance to help fix the problem instead of making a joke of it. Rioting after loses AND WINS has become a huge problem in the US lately. I live within 15 minutes of the University of Massachusetts and was present during a few of the recent championship victories of Boston Area teams like the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox and have seen the kind of damage that can happen. It turns into a mob mentality and goes from just kids cheering to throwing things and breaking everything in sight instantly. It needs to be taken seriously and making a joke of it like that isnt helping....
